Sunday nights and a little bedtime story...

There once was a group of friends who met every week. During these meetings there were lots of ideas and ventures that were explored. One day out of the blue a few of the friends set up a skype account to spread the word about how great a bedtime story can be. Ever since the group has broadcast to anyone who is awake, tales of adventurers, philosophical mastery right through to how a bird tweets. SO if you find yourself online at around 10:00pm GMT on a sunday evening, and are feeling like you would like a bedtime story to send you off to the land of nodd, tune in through your skype account.

Search for 'a_bedtime_story' and you will be let into a world of magic and storytelling at it's best. Hope to hear you all there this weekend, and every weekend.

PLACE: Skype, search for 'a_bedtime_story'
DAY: Every Sunday

Snow ARK

Well i am determined to make it to wednesdays ARK meeting tonight in the CAI, although i am going to head in early and leave early just to make sure i don't get stuck in town. So if anyone wants to join me before the usual 7pm meet up i will there from 5pm probably with a lovely hot chocolate in my hands to warm me up!

Space-makers and the empty shop movement

One of the popular projects a few ARKees have started to evolve is the idea of taking over empty shops and creating temporary art and theatre based installations to help regenerate and breathe new life into redundant spaces.

It seems this movement is spreading across the UK you have networks springing up like the Space Makers Network whose aim is 'Creating collaborative spaces for work and play' and the offshoot Space Makers Agency who are behind the inspiring Brixton Village project. This is certainly something for us to aim for and well done guys for doing such an amazing job!

Happy New Year - ARK this Wednesday

Just a quick blog to wish everyone a happy new year, hope they had a great time away. Also this week will be our first meeting this decade. We will be meeting this Wednesday around 7pm at CAI. Hope to see you all there. Topics this week will be Dead/happy spaces projects and lost & found.

ARK Academy

With all the christmas festivities there were a few less of us last night at Cardiff Arts Institute, but the Happy Spaces experiment was a great success. The object workshop worked really well with a bit of visual note taking. I will post a few images on a flickr account in the next few days but for now. Heres two of my favourites.

Academy - 16/12 - What's your happy space?

Next week we are going to be launching the Academy series. The event is all about expanding the sixth project of Happy Spaces. We are hoping as many people as possible come along to help get some concepts for the project.

We need you to bring along an object that you feel represents your happy space or comes from that space. We will be asking people to talk about their happy spaces and what makes it happy.

We will also be filling everyone in on what has happened with ARK since the launch, and the projects that came from it.

Results:
Extracting the values from these spaces to try and see what values need to be introduced into a project to make public private semi-private spaces 'happy'.

If you can't make it but feel someone may enjoy the event please pass this information on. We will be at CAI from 7pm next Wednesday so see you there.

ARK at WonderCulture - Chapter Arts Centre

Half way through WonderCultures Kiosk at Chapter Arts and we have had a great response so far. We have had about two days to organise this and get something reasonable to try and inform people about what we have been getting up to so far, so we have been up against it. Luckily we managed to get something up and running. We carried on the theme from the launch and have brought the cow back for another go. We should be at Chapter next thursday as well so hopefully with an extra week of planning we can do some extra bits for everyone.
